The History of CCTV
Closed
Circuit Television is currently well known as CCTV in short
begins with bulky cameras with black and white display only. In
those days, installer will need to install a Colour Television
with a tape recorder and attached black and white cameras into
it to accomplish the installation. The hassle with the system is
that customer would need to replace a recording tape everyday or
weekly.
In the
new era of technology in the world now we can have a Digital
Video Recorder or DVR that stores recording files digitally in a
hard disk and will use FIFO (First In First Out) method to
maintain the recording files in the systems that it could be
left unattended. Hard Disk has replaced the traditional tape
recording system. Another benefit is that we can now search
recording files based on timestamp with the specified date and
month, which is called “Fast Tracking” recording files method.
As time goes
on, new technology is invented that customer can also see their
premises even they are not there! With the broadband
connectivity provided by the ISP, customer can view their
premises thru Internet, LAN, PDA and mobile phones.
Currently there are two main CCTV
system; PC based and non-PC based. Some prefer to have Embedded
(Standalone) DVR system without going thru the hassle of setting
up a PC System for CCTV. Both systems have their pros and cons,

Soon but not too long from now, wireless
CCTV system will be taking over the market share. At current
